Shohei Ohtani regrets pitching decisions after Dodgers’ stunning Game 4 loss: “It was unfortunate”
The World Series has heated up with a 2-2 tie and Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was left with a dose of remorse after his team’s 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays in Game 4. Ohtani had a decent outing on the mound, but his inability to get to the bottom of the seventh inning, a self-imposed goal, left him with a clear taste of frustration.
In stark contrast to his historic three-home run performance in Game 3, Ohtani was the starter in Game 4. Although his performance was not catastrophic, as he pitched six innings, allowed three earned runs and struck out five, the Japanese felt he fell short.
“My goal is to be able to pitch six innings, and the situation in this game I wanted to go seven. It was regrettable that I wasn’t able to finish that inning”

The Japanese player was quite regretful of the decisions he made during the game, especially because they ended up losing it and the series was tied. Ohtani had just shone and made history in game three, but now he had to bite the dust of defeat.
Ohtani’s disappointment and Schneider’s happiness
Ohtani’s pitching was deciphered by the Blue Jays, who applied a disciplined strategy: they worked the counts and took advantage of mistakes over the plate. However, the real problem came after Ohtani left the game. The Dodgers’ bullpen gave up three runs in the late innings, allowing a manageable score to turn into a comprehensive victory for the Blue Jays.
While Ohtani laments not being able to extend his dominance in Game 4, Blue Jays manager John Schneider sees his promise fulfilled: “These guys were going to be more than ready.” Now, the World Series is up in the air, and Ohtani’s disappointment is the emotional fuel for what has become a strategic battle.
It is worth noting that after Game 3, it was Schneider himself who called for calm, as the Dodgers had not yet won the World Series and that his team was going to put up a fight, which they did to perfection, as the series was tied and anything can happen from now on.
