Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Reveals Blunt Reason for Collapse Against Broncos

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles were looking to improve to 5-0 on the season against the Denver Broncos. Entering the fourth quarter, everything appeared headed in that direction. At that point in the game, the Eagles were leading the Broncos by a score of 17-3. They had dominated the entire game. Unfortunately, things changed quickly when the fourth quarter arrived.
In that dreaded fourth quarter, Bo Nix and the Denver offense was able to get going. The Broncos outscored Philadelphia 18-0 in the final frame and took home the win by a final score of 21-17. That handed the Eagles their first loss of the season. While it isn’t the end of the world, losing that game was a tough blow for Philadelphia. To play such a good game up until the final quarter and to completely collapse and fall apart is not a way any team wants to lose.
Following the game, Hurts spoke out with a short and blunt message about why the team lost. He pointed his finger at one specific thing that led to the Eagles walking away from the outing with a 4-1 record. “Lack of execution. Lack of execution,” Hurts said.
Throughout the course of the game, Hurts completed 23 of his 38 pass attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. However, the team never got Saquon Barkley going. He finished with just six carries for 30 yards. Defensively, Philadelphia gave up 242 passing yards and a touchdown to Bo Nix. J.K. Dobbins finished with 79 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries for Denver.
Even though it’s just one loss and the Eagles are still very clearly a Super Bowl contender, it’s a loss that stings. Philadelphia should have won that game to remain undefeated. Hurts and company know that to be a fact. Hopefully, the loss motivates the Eagles to come back stronger than before. They have a matchup against the New York Giants on the road ahead of them in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football. With the short week coming up, Philadelphia will have a quick opportunity to get the bad taste of the loss to the Broncos out of its mouth. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles bounce back.
