Nick Sirianni believes A.J. Brown wants to be with Eagles despite cryptic messages

The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a great start in 2025, entering Week 5 as the only undefeated team in the NFC and just one of two teams in the NFL without a blemish. However, the first four weeks haven’t been as flourishing individually for one of the key offensive weapons for the Eagles (4-0).

Wide receiver A.J. Brown has 14 catches for 151 yards and one touchdown through four games. The 151 yards receiving is the lowest output in a four-game stretch for Brown since he arrived in Philadelphia in 2022. After the Eagles beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-25 on Sunday, Brown posted a couple of cryptic messages on his X account.

First, Brown wrote, “I love yall with all My heart,” followed by a mending heart emoji. Within an hour, Brown posted an image of a Bible verse that read, “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”

Nick Sirianni was asked about Brown’s second post Monday, and the Eagles’ head coach didn’t seem worried about Brown’s desire to be in Philadelphia.

“Obviously, A.J. is very important to this football team,” Sirianni said. “I know he wants to contribute and do the things that he’s capable of doing. Again, he wants to contribute into these wins, and he’s had a couple games where he hasn’t been able to, for different reasons of why we haven’t in these games. I question nothing about his desire to play great football, his desire of being a good teammate, his desire to be here.”

Sirianni said that he’s in “constant communication” with his players and has spoken to Brown, but declined to divulge the details of that conversation.

Brown’s low individual statistics are not an isolated issue. The Eagles’ passing offense hasn’t been clicking so far this season. They rank 31st in the league in passing yards per game with 138, ahead of only the Tennessee Titans, who are led by a rookie quarterback and a head coach who gave up his play-calling duties and is on the hot seat.

Brown’s season began with just one catch on one target for eight yards against a shoddy Dallas Cowboys defense. Brown had eight targets in Week 2, but it resulted in just five catches for 27 yards. Week 3 appeared to turn the corner for Brown, as he reeled in six of his 10 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown, but he had just two catches for seven yards in Philadelphia’s Week 4 win over the Bucs.

The Eagles face the Denver Broncos, who have a top-10 pass defense in the NFL, in Week 5.
