Prince William makes a painful confession to Eugene Levy about Kate Middleton’s battle with cancer

Prince William has offered a rare glimpse into his personal life during a conversation with Hollywood actor Eugene Levy for the travel series The Reluctant Traveler. In an episode set to air October 3 on Apple TV+, the Prince of Wales opened up about the struggles of the past 19 months, a period marked by his father King Charles III and wife Princess Kate both being diagnosed with cancer.
Speaking candidly as the pair strolled around Windsor and later sat down at a local pub, William admitted that the challenges had taken a toll. “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had. You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” the Prince of Wales said.
Princess Kate confirmed earlier this year that she is in remission, while the King continues to undergo treatment. The British Royal Family has kept details of their specific diagnoses private.
A lighter side to the conversation
While the discussion touched on deeply personal topics, the episode also showcased William’s lighter side. In one exchange, Levy asked what the Prince enjoyed doing during rare moments of downtime at home. “Sleep! When you’ve got three small children, sleep was an important part of my life,” William joked. The program captures William greeting Levy at Windsor Castle on his electric scooter, which he reportedly purchased in 2023 to travel between Adelaide Cottage and the castle more sustainably.

Playfully teasing his guest in the trailer, the Prince quipped, “Was getting drunk with Prince William on your bucket list?” Levy replied with a laugh: “That’s the bucket!” The series, which blends humor and cultural exploration, follows Levy around the globe as he explores what makes up the ultimate “travel bucket list.”
In addition to his time in Windsor with the Prince of Wales, Levy visits destinations across Canada, the United States, Austria, India, Ireland, Mexico, and South Korea. Other notable guests in the new season include K-pop boy band NOWZ and legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid. Episodes of The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy will premiere weekly on Apple TV+, with the finale scheduled for October 31, 2025.
