Chris Jones defends Travis Kelce’s attitude toward Andy Reid; things get complicated for the Kansas City Chiefs

There is no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs were the most questioned team throughout the offseason, with many wondering if the dynasty led by Patrick Mahomes was coming to an end after being crushed in the last Super Bowl by the Philadelphia Eagles. The offense also left a lot of doubts during the 2024 season.
And it seems the analysts were not wrong. The Chiefs have started with a 1-2 record. Their only win, last Sunday against the New York Giants, was heavily criticized due to the poor quality of the game. In their two losses, the Chargers were clearly superior, and the Eagles once again beat them-this time with a decisive interception on a pass that slipped through Travis Kelce’s hands.
The offense has relied almost entirely on Patrick Mahomes, who has three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Support from the wide receivers has been almost nonexistent, except for Tyquan Thornton, who has had a strong start to the season, leading the team with 171 yards and two touchdowns.
Chris Jones speaks on Andy Reid and Travis Kelce’s relationship
There’s no doubt that Travis Kelce will be a Hall of Famer once he retires and becomes eligible five years later. But last season was one to forget, and this year hasn’t started much better. He even cost Patrick Mahomes a painful interception in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The tight end has gone viral in recent days-not because of his relationship with Taylor Swift, but due to an incident on the sidelines during the Giants game. Kelce had a visible moment of tension with head coach Andy Reid, yelling during the game. Afterward, Reid downplayed the situation, calling Kelce “an emotional guy.”
Chiefs defensive leader Chris Jones echoed Reid’s perspective on Kelce: “Travis is a fierce competitor … sometimes in the heat of battle, emotions show. Sometimes we have confrontations, whether it’s with coaches or players, but I think it’s all out of competitive spirit.”

What’s clear is that the Kansas City Chiefs are in serious trouble. They’ve started 1-2, and next Sunday’s game is crucial as they host Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. Despite also being 1-2, John Harbaugh’s team comes in as the clear favorite.
