The American Music Awards returned to the big stage on Monday after a two-year hiatus. There was a lot of excitement in the lead-up to the major music awarding event, including that from Taylor Swift fans, who were hoping to see the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter make another appearance at the AMAs after gracing the occasion in 2022.

This was not the case for Swift on Monday night, though, with the 35-year-old opting to skip the AMAs this year.

She was spotted on Friday in West Palm Beach, Florida, having a night out with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, whom Swift has been spending a lot of time with under the radar of late.

As it turns out, Swift and Kelce decided not to make the trip to Las Vegas for the AMAs, which may have been the right move for the power couple. This is after Swift was snubbed in all six of her nominations in the esteemed awards show.

Swift would have come home empty-handed if she decided to attend the AMAs on Monday—a fact that has sparked outrage among her fans.

Swifties could not believe that their idol lost in all six of the categories she was nominated, which included Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for “The Tortured Poets Department.”

While some supporters were quick to criticize the AMAs for their decision to snub Swift, others pointed out that she had lost fan-voted awards. Swifties began turning on each other for supposedly not doing enough to help her win.

“losing fan voted awards??? 😭😭 guys WHY WEREN’T WE VOTING,” a post on X read.

“I voted. But some of y’all were too busy arguing about Travis’s backhair and clowning for Rep TV to actually vote,” said another.

“People were too busy finding the number 26 and pretzeling random things into easter eggs that weren’t real. This is not shocking,” claimed a user.

“Many big Swiftie accounts weren’t posting about the AMA’s voting + some Swifties were too busy fighting with Beyhives, the -lors & other side quests to actually vote 😪. Saw this happening weeks ago tbh,” another wrote.

“Y’all were too busy making random theories for reputation tv INSTEAD OF VOTING 💔 omg 😭” accused a Swiftie.

“They were too busy making up conspiracy theories about her next work to vote for and appreciate her current work,” a reaction read.

The disappointment from the supporters stems from the fact that the AMAs are an entirely fan-voted account. This only means that fans of other artists, such as Billie Eilish, who won both Artist and Album of the Year, simply outvoted the Swifties this year.
