Angel Reese only wanted to talk about one thing after the Chicago Sky’s third straight loss to start the 2025 WNBA season.  It was not what one reporter had in mind, and she let him know before he could finish his question.  Reese was named Chicago’s player of the game for her 13-point, 12-rebound performance — the 28th double-double of her professional career.  It was not enough to overcome the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday. New Sparks star Kelsey Plum lit up the Sky with 28 points and eight assists, powering Los Angeles to a 91-78 win, including a blow-by and a taunt of Reese.

With the Sky dropping to an 0-3 record, Reese had little patience for irrelevant questions in her postgame interview.  The 23-year-old generously fielded one question about her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, but the next person to ask a non-basketball question got a blunt response.  “Angel, we recently saw you team up with Magic Johnson for financial literacy for your home town of Baltimore—” a reporter said before the Chicago forward cut him off.  “Yeah, I’m trying to talk basketball,” Reese said. “I ain’t trying to talk about nothing but basketball.”

The former LSU star is the first one to flex her off-court achievements — from magazine covers to Met Gala appearances to the aforementioned community initiative — but clearly basketball is her priority amid Chicago’s slow start.  Under first-year head coach Tyler Marsh, his misuse of Reese and center Kamilla Cardoso has been one of many basketball questions to emerge from the three-game skid.

It started with a 35-point loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in their opening game, followed by allowing a record-setting performance in a loss to the New York Liberty.  However, there were enough positive signs against Los Angeles for Reese to stay upbeat when she finally fielded a question about the game.  “It’s tough losing three in a row,” she conceded. “But I think if we stay together and work on the things we need to work on, we’ll be alright…We’re not happy obviously. We’re not satisfied. We’re hungry for a win.”
