Chicago Sky Fans Excited Over Major News Before Game Against Caitlin Clark

The Chicago Sky had plenty of holes in their roster heading into the offseason. New head coach Tyler Marsh had to get on the same page as general manager Jeff Pagliocca and find several players that fit the mold of what they are trying to build. Seemingly, their first order of business was not giving Chennedy Carter a contract, who averaged 17.5 points per game last season for the Sky. Instead, the front office planned on building around Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso.
This young duo of bigs took the WNBA by storm last season after being first round picks. Now, they’ll look to make a playoff push with a better supporting cast. Pagliocca made several moves for veteran guards like Ariel Atkins, Courtney Vandersloot and Rebecca Allen. He also retained solid rotational players like Elizabeth Williams and Michaela Onyenwere Despite No. 10 pick Ajša Sivka choosing to remain overseas, the Sky also made two great selections in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Both Hailey Van Lith and Maddy Westbeld made the final 12-person roster, which the Chicago Sky announced just before their matchup with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Fans were optimistic about the outlook of the roster, but excitement was particularly high around Van Lith making the team. Several fans commented under the post to show their support for the young guard. “What are HVL fans called? Where do I sign up?” one fan asked.
“OMG SO PROUD OF HVL,” another fan commented.
“BIG HVL MY ROOK,” someone added.
“Hailey!!!! LETS GOOO,” a fan chimed in.
Van Lith may have made the roster, but what exactly the team will ask of her is still unknown. She could be a valuable bench piece for the Sky, but she will need to earn the trust of Coach Marsh early in her career. She already has a rapport with Angel Reese from their days together at LSU, so she will have that to lean on. It is very difficult for rookies to get significant playing time in the WNBA, but Van Lith may be a special case.
